Intel has plans to roll out its own smart glasses for the public
According to reports by Bloomberg, Intel will reportedly launch consumer smart glasses by the funds achieved through selling majority stake in an augmented reality spin-off company. Bloomberg has said that the new smart glasses would reportedlt be called as "Superlite" and manufactured by a Taiwanese manufacturer named Quanta Computer.
After pairing with a phone via bluetooth it will use laser projections to display information in the viewer's field of view. It is not the first time that Intel will come into AR business. It worked with AR headset company Daqri to launch a VR-like headset design known as "Project Alloy" but it was shut down last year.
If Bloomberg's reports are correct, the idea is an exciting one. We have seen different projects backed by tech giants in the past years but none have been able to bring the products for consumer. If Intel is able to live up to the plans, our life is definitely going to be more interesting.
